Keppel Bay Bridge, built at the cost of nearly S$30 million, was named and opened by Singapore President S.R. Nathan in a grand light-up ceremony involving spectacular pyrotechnics across its 250m span. The ceremony was witnessed by more than 300 guests gathered at the waterfront promenade at the Reflections at Keppel Bay show gallery.

“This new landmark bridge forms part of the infrastructure to transform Keppel Bay into a premier waterfront precinct that integrates exclusive waterfront residences, a private marina and prime offices,” said Teo Soon Hoe, Senior Executive Director and Group Finance Director of Keppel Corporation Limited.

“Through building value and premium into Keppel Bay, we’re playing our part to enhance Singapore’s live-work-play environment and contribute to the government’s Tourism 2015 vision to transform the Sentosa-Harbourfront-Mount Faber precinct into a world-class destination.”

The bridge links the mainland to the new Marina at Keppel Bay and future waterfront residences on Keppel Island. It also completes a 3km walking route that takes in the Reflections and Caribbean residences, Keppel Island and Keppel Bay Tower.

One of two cable-stay bridges in Singapore, Keppel Bay Bridge was jointly designed by DCA Architects and TY Lin International, and constructed by Penta Ocean Construction.

The Marina at Keppel Bay later celebrated its official opening on January 19, when the 10-strong fleet of 68ft yachts competing in the Clipper Round-the-World Yacht Race sailed in and berthed until leaving for Qingdao on January 27. All homeowners of Keppel Bay enjoy 10 years’ free membership and five years’ free subscription at the marina, which includes a clubhouse with a member’s lounge, restaurants and charter services.
