Vietnam - Monty’s Vietnam golf development launched
Phase one of the The Estates at Montgomerie Links in Vietnam has just been launched at the Park Hyatt in Ho Chi Minh City.

The first phase of sales has already been completed and project agents CB Richard Ellis Vietnam Co. Ltd. and Indochina Land are planning release of the second phase, scheduled for the middle of the second quarter 2008.  The Estates at Montgomerie Links is the third development in the central Vietnam coast region to be carried out by Indochina Land.

China - China’s property sales leap 65%
China’s leading 100 property developers have reported a a year-on-year increase of 65.32 percent in unit sales, a national real estate research organisation announced in Beijing at the weekend.
According to the Shanghai Daily the companies sold an average of 5.007 billion yuan (US$705 million) worth of properties during 2007.

Philippines - DSR reveals its top property hotspots
Overseas property specialists David Stanley Redfern Ltd has just announced its top two overseas property investment destinations.

The Philippines, which David Stanley Redfern Ltd described as “an incredible destination for a short-term property investment” came in first with Thailand’s Koh Samui coming in second.

Vietnam - Vietnam secures $20bn in FDI
Record 2007 Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) worth US$20.3 billion is driving Vietnam’s real estate industry but experts have urged existing and would be investors and developers to take an holistic approach and support local and regional infrastructure requirements.

The cautionary advice came during keynote presentations at the Cityscape Asia conference, which closed yesterday (Thursday 17 April).

Hong Kong - HK office vacancies dropping
The average Grade A office vacancy rate in Hong Kong’s CBD fell to a record low level just .92 per cent as of March 2008, Colliers International has reported.

The decline in available space has been attributed in part to the fact that no new stock was completed for lease in CBD in Q1 2008. However, despite limited office space available for lease in the CBD, individual Grade A buildings in the decentralised area are yet to be 100 per cent filled. 

Thailand - BCCT launches ’Thailand means Business’
The British Chamber of Commerce Thailand (BCCT) has announced the launch of its ’Thailand Means Business 2008’ campaign, which it says will help improve the confidence of UK business in Thailand.
As part of the initiative the BCCT is to organise a series of business-to-business seminars targeted at British companies seeking to invest in or trade with Thailand in different locations in the UK, Hong Kong and Singapore.

Vietnam - Keppel secures HCMC residential site
Keppel land, one of Vietnam’s largest foreign property developers, has secured a land parcel on which it plans to construct more than 1,500 quality apartments in HCMC’s residential District 2.
Through wholly-owned subsidiary Earlsbay Investments Pte Ltd (Earlsbay), Keppel Land has signed an option agreement with local property developer Hong Quang Co. Ltd. (Hong Quang) to develop luxury residences on the prime 5.1-ha (51,043 sm) site.

The Maldives - Maldives facing climate change disaster
The president of the Maldives has called on delegates gathered in Bali to discuss establishing a mandate for negotiations on a new global climate treaty to work towards a solution which will halt rising sea levels that are threatening to swallowed the archipelago nation.
