The inaugural Cityscape Asia real estate awards saw projects from Singapore, Malaysia and China taking centrestage as they picked up four awards per country. Winners from Singapore included the country’s Urban Redevelopment Authority (URA), which collected the Award for Best Urban Design and Master-planning for its work on the Bras Basah/Bugis area, while local developers Capital Land Commercial, City Developments and UOL Group each walked away with an award for Clarke Quay, City Square Mall and Newton Suites respectively. From Malaysia were ZLG for the BOH Visitor Centre in the Cameron Highlands, Kesas Kenangan for Setia Eco Gardens in Johor Bahru, TTDI Harta for the Laman Seri Business Park in Shah Alam and Bandaraya Developments for The Troika in Kuala Lumpur. China’s strongest showings were in the mixed-use category, with the Chongbang Group scoring for its Life Hub @ Daning in the Zhabei District of Shanghai, and Capital Land (China Investment Company) with Raffles City at 1 Dongzhimen Nan Da Jie in Beijing. The Xiang Shan International Yacht Club’s Deep Blue Marina in Xiamen was selected as the best future waterfront development while Financial Street Holding Co. was nominated the best built retail for Seasons Place in Beijing. The awards recognised winners in 12 categories spanning corporate social responsibility, urban design and master-planning through to the best developments in waterfront, retail, commercial, residential, and mixed use projects. “The industry is going from strength-to-strength and this is reflected in the growing sophistication and quality of the developments, including significant environmental and social considerations which are more and more the norm among the leading developers,” Cityscape Asia exhibition director Graham Wood said. |
